Josep Maria Llompart sits with a book on a public bench in Palma, leaving room beside him for passers-by. The statue honours the Mallorcan poet, essayist, editor and cultural activist whose work helped sustain Catalan literature on the island. Unveiled in January 2026, it concluded the commemorations marking the centenary of his birth. The book, relaxed pose and words on the bench bring the tribute into everyday street life rather than placing the writer on a distant pedestal.
